AI-Use Disclosure

Grounded autocomplete can draw continuations from passages in your library when you have PDFs; without them it drafts from the model, and those suggestions are not citations. Rewrite, expand, polish, and abstract/title drafting transform text you select. Research chat answers with scoped sources: your library, this paper, or indexed scholarly papers. Review passes flag uncited claims and check submission readiness. AI generates prose and suggestions, but AI does not write your citations: references are retrieved from Rivul Index (OpenAlex), Crossref, DataCite, Semantic Scholar, and arXiv metadata and formatted by a deterministic rule.

Rivul AI holds no AI model key and pays for no model calls. AI features use your own API key: in Settings → AI provider, you connect one AI provider (Google Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic, xAI, Mistral, or Meta) and choose the model. Without a connection, AI features are unavailable, and search, library, editor, citations, and export still work.

When you request an AI feature, Rivul AI's server sends the relevant text (the passage you selected, the surrounding draft, any library excerpts or sources used for grounding, and your question) to the provider you chose, using your key. That provider's own API terms and data-use policy, under your account with them, govern that processing. Rivul AI does not control whether the provider retains or trains on that data, so check your provider's API terms. The provider bills you directly. With Meta, Rivul AI uses only Meta's standard models, never its contributor models, whose data Meta uses to improve its products.

Adding a PDF to your library sends nothing to any AI provider. Library search uses keyword and full-text matching inside Rivul AI's database. For Ask Rivul, each paper's text is split into passages that an open-source model (bge-small-en-v1.5) on Rivul AI's own server in Germany converts into vectors; no AI provider or language model is involved in that step. An Ask Rivul answer about your library is then written by your own AI provider from the passages that best match your question, with numbered citations to them.

Rivul AI does not use your content to train any model. Your key is stored encrypted (AES-256-GCM), bound to your account, used only for your own requests, never shown back to your browser, never logged, and deleted when you remove the connection or delete your account. Only one key is stored at a time: saving a key for another provider replaces the previous key and deletes it.

Rivul AI does not train any AI model on your papers, drafts, or library. Rivul AI does not sell your content.
