Open Research

Open Research with sources, evidence, and citations in view.

Use AI search for academic and scientific research papers, ask grounded questions, inspect cited evidence, and move verified findings into a draft in Rivul AI.

No card required. Writing, citations, and export need approved Pro access. See beta access and limits.

Rivul AI shows the selected source scope and separates the papers retrieved from the sources cited in an answer, so you can inspect the evidence before using it.

Why this workflow

Open research needs a visible path from question to evidence.

A broad AI answer can hide what was searched, which sources shaped the response, and whether the evidence actually supports the wording. Open Research in Rivul AI keeps the source scope, answer, evidence ledger, and manuscript handoff in one reviewable workflow.

Search scientific papers

Ask across indexed academic papers, your saved library, or the paper you are reading, with the active scope shown beside the answer.

Inspect the evidence ledger

Review retrieved and cited sources separately, then open the underlying record or available paper before relying on a finding.

Carry findings into the draft

Use a verified answer in the manuscript with its source record attached instead of rebuilding the citation after copy and paste.

A research-shaped workflow

From source to submission in three deliberate steps.

01

Frame the question

Ask a focused research question and choose Papers, Library, This paper, or All sources.

02

Review the evidence

Inspect which scholarly records were retrieved, which were cited, and what the original sources actually say.

03

Write with control

Move only useful, verified findings into your draft and keep the citations connected to the manuscript.

Open Research is an evidence workflow, not a claim that every paper is open access.

Rivul AI searches scholarly metadata and links to source locations. Full-text availability depends on the paper, repository, publisher, and your access rights. The feature does not replace reading the original study or following its license and terms.

Frequently asked questions

Questions before you use AI in research.

What is Open Research in Rivul AI?

Open Research is Rivul AI's source-grounded research workspace. It lets you ask a question across scholarly papers, your library, or one paper, then inspect the cited evidence before using a finding in your draft.

Can Open Research search scientific papers?

Yes. The Papers scope searches the Rivul AI Index, while Library and This paper limit the answer to sources you have already added or opened. All sources combines eligible indexed papers with usable library text.

Can Rivul AI search academic papers?

Yes. Open Research searches indexed academic paper metadata through the Rivul AI Index and keeps the source record available for inspection. Full-text availability depends on the paper and your access rights.

Does Open Research include citations?

Answers can include cited source records, and verified findings can move into a manuscript with the source attached. You should still open the source and confirm that it supports the sentence.

Does Open Research provide every paper's full text?

No. Rivul AI links to available source locations and can use accessible or uploaded text, but open-access and full-text availability vary by record and publisher.

Can AI agents search research papers with Rivul AI?

Yes, through Rivul Atlas. Atlas provides a REST API and MCP server for read-only scholarly search and citation metadata, while Open Research is the researcher-facing workspace.
