Open Research

In the editor, click Research. A workspace Assist route also opens Research chat without a paper; Cite then targets the most recently edited document.

Scopes

Choose Web, My library, or This document before you send.

Web searches arXiv, Semantic Scholar, OpenAlex, and Crossref.

My library searches extracted library text. The scope is disabled when the library is empty or no document has more than 50 characters of text.

This document uses the open manuscript. It is hidden on the standalone Assist surface.

Choose papers

1. Set the scope to My library.

2. Click choose papers.

3. Check the PDFs to search. If none are checked, the query uses every library item with extractable text.

There is no @-mention syntax in the input. Selection is the checkbox list.

Insert answer

When a completed assistant message lists sources, click Insert as draft. The answer is inserted into the open paper and the source papers become citable records. Insert is hidden while that message is still streaming, and it is hidden after an error.

Similar-paper discovery

In Library, click related on a row. Results list keyword overlap inside your library and, when reachable, recommended papers from the literature index.

Citation-worthiness

Click Readiness, then Citation-worthiness. The check flags claim-style sentences that lack a citation. It is a review lens, not an automatic gate on export. Procedure: see Review.
