Research workflows
Five practical research workflows, each ending in a source, citation, or check you can inspect instead of untraceable generated prose.
Understand one PDF
Start when a paper is dense, unfamiliar, or too long to scan reliably.
1. Upload the PDF and wait for Text ready or Partial text.
2. Open the reader and ask about one method, result, definition, or limitation.
3. Read the surrounding page before you quote, paraphrase, or cite the answer.
Result: a bounded answer tied to the open paper, with the original context still available.
Build a literature review
Start when you need to compare papers by theme, method, finding, or disagreement.
1. Import the papers that define the review question and remove duplicates.
2. Create an evidence matrix, then inspect every keyword-picked passage against the source.
3. Draft by theme or disagreement and keep citations attached to each claim.
Result: a review structure whose evidence can be checked paper by paper.
Draft with source context
Start when you know the argument but need help connecting a sentence to the literature.
1. Write the claim or paragraph in the manuscript editor.
2. Ask a library-grounded question or request a bounded continuation.
3. Inspect the suggested source, accept only the useful text, and insert a live citation.
Result: an editable sentence with provenance, not a detached answer copied from a chat window.
Repair citations
Start when a draft contains missing references, broken numbering, or a citation you no longer trust.
1. Find the paper by title, DOI, arXiv ID, URL, or BibTeX record.
2. Insert it where the claim appears. Rivul renumbers citations by first appearance.
3. Open the source and verify that it supports the nearby claim before export.
Result: a live citation node and bibliography entry that stay connected to the manuscript.
Prepare a submission
Start when the argument is complete and you need a final quality pass.
1. Run claim verification, consistency checks, source quality checks, and placeholder review.
2. Review the AI-use footprint as a record of Rivul edits, then follow the target venue’s disclosure policy.
3. Export the required Word, LaTeX, Markdown, BibTeX, or supporting files and inspect the result.
Result: a cleaner submission package with visible remaining risks. Rivul does not guarantee acceptance or venue compliance.
