Listen reads text aloud with your browser's voice or the Rivul voice. Neither needs an API key.
Listen to a paper, a draft, or text
Step 1: Open Listen in the sidebar, under Convert (rivul.ai/app/listen).
Step 2: Paste text, or use Choose a paper or draft to pick a library paper (its extracted text) or one of your drafts (the manuscript without its reference list).
Step 3: The sentence being read is highlighted. Click any sentence to start there, and change the speed while you listen. Citation markers such as [3] are shown but not read.
Voices and limits
The browser voice is the default. It uses a voice installed on your device, starts instantly, sends nothing anywhere, and has no limit.
The Rivul voice is a natural-sounding voice that runs on Rivul AI's own server in Germany: the text is turned into speech there, is not stored or logged, and is never sent to an AI company. It can read 300,000 characters per account a day. Your browser keeps that audio so the same text is not sent twice.
Recording in Transcribe stops Listen, and Listen stops a recording, so the microphone never picks up the voice.
