Search Papers
Search papers searches metadata for 300M+ scholarly works in the Rivul Index, no AI key needed. Judge a result, save it, cite it, or research it.

Literature search
- Step 1: Open Search papers in the sidebar, under Sources.
- Step 2: Type a query and click Search, or press Enter. Or pick an example under Start with a research task.
- Step 3: Click a result to open Preview (abstract, and an open-access PDF when arXiv can supply one).
If scholarly retrieval fails, the page says the search service is unreachable. If only part of retrieval responds, it says results may be partial.
Rivul Index results
The corpus count describes the scholarly records available to the Rivul Index. A search result page contains at most 20 of the matching papers; it does not mean Rivul AI downloaded or sent the full result set to a model.
Results are ordered by relevance, with the strongest canonical title match first. Use Sort to show the most cited, newest, or oldest papers instead. Previous and Next replace the current page instead of appending more cards while you scroll.
When a search is a person's name, such as Yoshua Bengio or LeCun Y, and several published works confirm that author, Search papers lists that person's works and says so above the results. Otherwise it searches titles and topics as usual.
Research a question, above the results, opens the Research notebook with your query so you can get a cited brief.
Data source
The Rivul Index holds metadata records for 300M+ works: titles, authors, year, venue, abstracts, citation counts and open-access links. It does not hold the full text of those papers; Open fetches an open-access PDF when one exists.
The Rivul Index is built using the open OpenAlex dataset (CC0).
Suggestions as you type
After three characters, the search box suggests matching papers from your Library (In Library) and the Rivul Index, each with its authors and a snippet; Rivul Index suggestions also show their citation count. Click a suggestion to search for that title, or press Esc to close the list. You can also paste a DOI into the box.
Result actions
Save (or Save to Library) adds the paper by DOI or arXiv identifier and stays on the page.
Open (or Open reader) adds the paper, starts Fetch PDF in the background, and opens the reader on the current page.
Cite opens a destination chooser. Select an existing paper, or explicitly create and title a new paper, before Rivul AI adds the bibliographic record.
Saved searches
- Step 1: Run a search and review the results.
- Step 2: Click Save this search when the query is useful enough to revisit.
- Step 3: Saved searches appear under Saved searches. Click Check now to look for new papers since the previous check.
- Step 4: If new papers appear, review them here and click Mark read when finished.
This is a manual saved-query workflow. Rivul AI does not claim to monitor in the background or send email alerts.
